Empties #5: hits and misses

12:45:00 PM

Hello everyone!

As much as I love buying new make up and beauty products and trying new stuff, it's good to get rid of some products every once in a while. And believe me, there's nothing more satisfying than throwing away all of the empties that I've been gathering just for this blog post. As usually, I'm going to share with you some of my final thoughts on the products and tell you if I would buy it again or not. Let's get into it!

# Skin Therapy Active Concentrate serum. It was, well, just another serum in my evening routine. I didn't feel like it did anything special, and it was more pricey that what I've been choosing before, so that was a disappointment. I was also really disappointed by how small it was, as I ordered it online and didn't really know beforehand. Anyways, I'm not going to buy it again. It was just... meh.

# AA Cosmetics Youth Energy Moisturizing and Smoothing eye cream. I usually like these eye creams by AA, because, well, they work - they moisturize. I'm in my early twenties and don't really need anything else from an eye cream. They are also affordable, so it's a nice option if you're looking for something like that. Still, I don't think I'm going to buy it again, unless I really can't find anything else. I'd prefer trying something new. Who knows, maybe I'll find something that'll blow my mind :).

# Avon Planet Spa Firming Face Mask with Sandalwood and Sesame oils. It's something I've had for quite a long time. I usually like these Planet Spa masks from Avon, and I've enjoyed this one in particular, as it smelled amazing, and, of course, did its job. Nonetheless, I don't think I'd buy it again, I've been using these masks from Avon for a long time now (as my mom used to work at Avon) and I'd really like trying something new for a change.

# AA Cosmetics Hydro Algae Pink Micellar Water for dry/normal skin. It was a nice micellar water - it removed make up just fine and didn't burn my eyes, this is pretty much everything I'd expect from an affordable product like this. It was not bad and I might reach for it again, but for now I think I'll try something else and not buy this again.

# Neutrogena Deep Moisture Comfort Balm. This is something I got for Christmas last year, so it lasted me a pretty long time - almost a year! Especially considering I was using it as a day and night cream. It was, and still is, my favourite facial cream. It really moisturized and I was able to see a difference in my skin after a few uses. I also enjoyed the scent a lot. The fact that you can also use it as a body cream is a nice bonus - maybe that's why the packaging is so huge. Anyways, that's my favourite cream of this year and I would totally buy this again.

# Avon Naturals Essential Balm in Peach & Cotton. This too I was using for a very long time. It's probably been more that 4 years since I bought it. I have no idea if you're supposed to use it for so long, but it worked just fine and didn't smell weird till the very end. It was also very good at moisturizing my lips, or any other part of the body I wanted to moisturize (I sometimes used it on my cuticles or elbows, or if I had a dry patch somewhere). I would absolutely recommend it and I would buy it again.

# Avon Advanced Techniques Mirror Shine Spray. It's basically a spray that's supposed to make your hair more shiny. I never really enjoyed it that much, which is why I've had it for years and I was very happy to finally get rid of it. It did what it claimed to do - my hair was shiny after I used it, I just didn't really care about that. So I wouldn't buy it again.

# Biosilk Silk Therapy Lite. It's a very nice silicone based serum, it was also the first of that kind that I've tried. I enjoyed it while it lasted, I even still have some backups in travel size, but I don't think I'd buy it again. I'd probably try something else.

# Le Petit Marseiliais White Peach and Nectarine. Le Petit Marseiliais is my favourite brand for shower gels and this is one of my favourite scents from them. You should definitely try these, they all smell amazing and are very affordable! I would totally buy this again, either this scent or something else. Anyways, it's a favourite.

# Avon Planet Spa Sweet Sensuality with Jasmine essential oils Fragrance Spritz. I really enjoy  the scent of this, but it disappeared after like half an hour. I know it's not a perfume, so you can't really expect much, but this is the reason why I'm not going to buy this again. They should really make a perfume with this scent though.

# Miz Club Make Up Sponge. It's not technically an "empty", but I'm done with it. It was good while it lasted, and it was very affordable. It blended my make up nicely and didn't soak it up nearly at all. The only downside is it took ages to dry. Would I buy it again? No, probably, as I prefer my Beauty Blender, but it's a nice option for someone who's not willing to spend that kind of money on a make up sponge.

# Avon Glimmerstick Brow Definer in Dark Brown. It was something my mom gave me when I run out of my Catrice brow pencil. It was too dark for me, but I managed to make it work. I think the formula is nice and I love the fact that it was retractable, but they should really work on the shade range. I will probably not buy this again (I didn't buy it in the first place, haha), because there's no shade that would match me perfectly.

# Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 10. This is my second one and I enjoyed it as much as I did the first one. Just like everybody says, it's an amazing concealer, I loved using it for my under-eyes. I would like them to make a lighter shade though, as I was using the lightest one and it was almost too dark for me, I wouldn't even think about highlighting with it. I would probably buy this again and I recommend it.

# Wet N Wild Mega Liner liquid eyeliner in Black. This was a huge disappointment. I enjoyed the brush and the formula was okay, I really liked how black it was. But from the very beginning it felt like it's an old eyeliner and there's barely anything left. Maybe I just got a bad one, but I was not happy at all and I will not buy it again.

# Revlon Colorstay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black. Another disappointment. I didn't like this one at all. The tip was very hard and uncomfortable to use. It was also, in my opinion, too big o make a pretty wing. The tip got a little softer with time, but then the formula became crap! The "Blackest Black" part is an absolute lie, as my liner was grey, not black. And when I tried layering it, to make it darker, it would take off what was already applied, creating a bold patch. I absolutely hated it and would not recommend it at all. I will also not buy this again.

# Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara in Black. That's another favourite of mine. I already had two of these and I absolutely loved them. It is said to be a dupe for Benefit's Roller Lash. I don't know about that, but it makes me want to try the Roller Lash. It's a perfect mascara in my opinion. It gives volume and length, separates the lashes. The want is small enough for it to be easy to apply without getting mascara on the lid. I will definitely buy this again.

# Ingrid Cosmetics Ideal Skin Concealer in 10. I used this concealer for highlighting mostly, as it doesn't give too much coverage and wouldn't cover my dark circles. It also oxidized quite a bit. It was okay for highlighting, I would describe it as a "meh" product. I would not buy this again.

# Borjouis Healthy Balance Unifying Powder in 52 Vanilla. It's a really nice powder, it also smells nice. I had a love-hate relationship with it, there was a time when I thought it was making my make up look cakey and powdery, because it has coverage and I was used to translucent powders. On the other hand, it looked great on days when I didn't wear too much make up and needed some extra coverage. I don't know if I would buy it again, I would probably prefer trying something different. I also love the Stay Matte from Rimmel much more and I would choose it over this one any day of the week.

# Make Up For Ever HD powder. As you can see, it's a mini size, but it lasted me a long time anyway (I bought it for myself as a Christmas present last year). I mainly used it for baking under my eyes and it worked just fine. I'm using a powder from Essence now and it's doing just as well, so no, I'm not going to buy this again, I don't think it's worth the money.

And these are all of my empties for now. There are a few more piling up already, but I think I'll wait until after Christmas and New Years Eve before I talk about these. Anyways, I really hope you enjoyed this post and will come back for more! Have a great day :).

Beauty gift guide a.k.a. my Christmas wishlist

7:49:00 PM

Hello guys!

Christmas is almost here, I can't believe it! And at the same time it makes me so happy. Personally, I did most of my Christmas shopping weeks ago, but I know there are people who have to do it last minute, for whatever reason (being it school, work, preference or just laziness). And for those of you, I prepared a little Christmas gift guide for beauty junkies in your life (your girls friends or yourself). You can also consider it my little Christmas wishlist :).

I'd like to point out that because I live in Poland, I'll be only mentioning products that you can buy here without additional effort (like shipping from over the sea). Also the prices will be different in different countries or even shops.

1. Sleek Make Up i-Divine eyeshadow palette. The one on the picture is "All night long", but I would recommend all of the Sleek palettes and I would love to get one. They are very affordable and amazing quality. Price: 39,99-45.00 pln ($9-10,50)

2. Milani Everyday Eyes Powder Eyeshadow Collection. The one in the picture is "Earthy Elements", but, just like with Sleek, I hear all of them are great. It's just that this one is my favourite. Price: 65,90 pln ($15,42)

3. The Balm Mary Lou Manizer highlighter. This one is so famous I probably don't even have to describe it. It's a cult classic and if your beauty junkie doesn't have it, she probably has in on her wishlist. Price: 89,90 pln ($21)

4. The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Mini Kit. Who doesn't love lipstick? I think giving (or getting) sets or mini lipsticks is a great way to try out the brand and different shades, without committing to a full size lipstick. Buying a set is also a great way to have a little gift for, in this case, six of your friends. Or three. Or two, depends on how you decide to divide it. Price: 129,90 pln ($30,40), which is 21,65 pln ($5) per lipstick.

5. Zoeva Pure Velours Lips. Another lipstick that I personally would love to try. The shade on the picture is "Blue Blood", the perfect red, as I hear. Price: 49 pln ($11,50)

6. Sephore The Delicate eyeshadow palette. A lot of people tend to avoid Sephora Collection products for whatever reason, but they are actually great quality in my opinion. This eyeshadow palette is beautiful, I hear it's good, the packaging is stunning and it's affordable. Price: 39 pln ($9)

7. Too Faced Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar. Any chocolate lovers here? I think everybody loves chocolate, and it's even better, when it's a Chocolate Bar by Too Faced! I have the original Chocolate Bar and it's absolutely stunning. I wish I could get my hands on this one too! Oh, and I just have to mention how amazing they smell. Price: 189 pln ($44,25)

8. Zoeva Caramel Malange Eyeshadow palette. This one is a beauty and I hear all of the eyeshadow palettes by Zoeva are wonderful. I'm absolutely in love with this one, but they have quite a lot to choose from. Price: 95 pln ($22,20)

9. Sleek Make Up Solstice Highlighter palette. This baby has been on my wishlist for a while now, I don't even know why haven't I bought it yet (maybe because it's always sold out!). For anyone who loves highlight, this one is a must have. Price: 45.99 ($10,80)

1. Skin79 Watermelon Girl sheet mask. Sheet masks have been a big trend lately and for a reason, as they are usually much better at moisturizing than traditional masks (Koreans know how to moisturize!) plus it's just such an experience! You can choose any sheet mask on the market, as there are more and more, even in the drugstores. Price: 20 pln  ($4,70)

2. Sephora The Precious Fizz bath balls. For anyone who loves taking baths these will be at least a fun experience, as they are supposed to fizz and make the water sparkly, making it a truly festive bath! Price: 39 pln ($9,10)

3. Merci Handy You Are Hand'some set. I absolutely love giving sets for Christmas, as they usually are very pretty and festive. In this one you'll find an antibacterial gel and a hand cream. And who wouldn't find a use for those? Price: 40 pln ($9,40)

4. Tony Moly Mini Lip Balm. Once again, Asian brand surprised me with what you can do with the packaging. Isn't it just the cutest? They also smell amazing. Price: 29 pln ($6,80)

5. Tony Moly Magic Food Banana Hand Milk. Another cutie. I also hear this smells amazing and is actually a good hand cream! Price: 35 pln ($8,20)

6. Origins Drink Up 10 Minute Mask To Quench Skin's Thirst. I love hydrating masks and I hear many people raving about this one. Personally I wouldn't spend this much money on a mask for myself, but it would be great to get it as a gift. Price: 99 pln ($23,20)

7. Origins Gin Zing Energy Boosting Moisturizer. Another little something-something that I hear is amazing. I wouldn't spend this much money on something for myself, but if someone else would, I wouldn't be mad at all. Price: 99 pln ($23,20)

8. Clinique Pep Start TM eye cream. I love my eye creams and I'm constantly on a hunt for a new, better one. This one has some amazing reviews and a lot of people swear by it. Again, it's expensive, but if you can spend this amount of money on someone, I say - go ahead. Price: 99 pln ($23,20)

1. Yankee Candle. Or any nice smelling candle, actually. Girls love things that smell good and look pretty, and candles usually do both. I know I would be very happy if someone got me a Yankee Candle, especially a big one, cause that is pretty expensive. Price: 109 pln ($25,50)

2. Tangle Teezer. Most of the people who tried these little cute hairbrushes fell in love with them. I know I did. I can't even imagine going back to a normal hairbrush. It truly does what it says it does - it detangles my hair better than anything else. Some of them are also very pretty. I know there's even a gold one, so beautiful. Also, who doesn't need a hair brush?! Price: 34 pln ($8)

3. Stenders Bath Bombs. Not necessarily by Stenders, there are many brands that make those. I know I buy some for my mom every single year and she loves them. It's a great way to make your bathing experience even more relaxing and fun. I think they also have some skincare benefits, but don't quote me on that. Price: 15 pln ($3,50) per ball

4. The Original Beauty Blender. I know there are many cheaper dupes for this famous sponge, but, in my opinion, it's famous for a reason. I can't imagine doing my make up without it! I also am sure that whoever you'll gift it to, they will fall in love with it. And even if they already own it, you can still give them a new one, two Beauty Blender is better than one ;) (plus it's a tool that you have to replace one in a while). Price: 69 pln ($16)

5. Zoeva Pink Elements Classic brush set. This, or any other Zoeva brush set. Or even any other quality brush set. I think make up brushes, especially good brushes, are an amazing gift. They are often very expensive and some people may not want to spend an arm and a leg on some tools. But tools are very important and thus they are an amazing and a very practical gift for your make up junkie.

And that is all I have! I'm sure there are many other things that should be included, so feel free to add anything in the comments section below. Also, if you have any opinions on products mentioned, please share them with me and fellow readers ;).

I hope you're having an amazing week so far and see you in my next post!

My first Aliexpress purchase: Zoeva brushes

2:22:00 PM

Hello everyone!

Lately I've been seeing a lot of people talking about what they've bought on Aliexpress. I had no idea what Aliexpress was and I actually thought for a second that maybe it's just another internet shop where you can buy fashion and make up items. Well, it's not exactly like that. I'm still not sure, so don't quote me on that, but I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese site where you can basically buy a lot of fake stuff. Maybe not everything is fake, I have no idea, but I think most of the things are. Girls that I saw talking about Aliexpress claimed to be pleasantly surprised by how nice were the products that they've bought, so I decided to give it a shot.

Almost a month ago, on November 12th, I've placed an order for a set of Zoeva brushes. I payed about 14 euros, which is five times less than what I would have to pay on any other site. Because of that reason I obviously knew these can't be real. But I wanted to try different brushes and generally just have more and there's no way I would get 15 brushes for that kind of money, anywhere. And here I also got a bag, which, by the way, is very pretty and I'm totally going to use it when I'm traveling.

The brushes themselves are very pretty. The handles are black with rose gold writings on them - brush name and number, Zoeva logo and "Color. Love. Makeup." on the other side. The metal parts are also rose gold and everything in general feels very sturdy. There is some inconsistency in the way writings are engraved, it looks like some were pressed in harder than others. When it comes to bristles, most brushes are surprisingly soft, but there are some that feel less nice than the others.

I've got six face brushes, which are (from left to right):

# 106 Powder - very big, very soft, I think I will enjoy it for overall bronzing.
# 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek - also very soft, it reminds me of my blush brush from ECOntour, but this one is a little bit more dense.
# 103 Defined Buffer - I haven't tried this one yet, but it feels nice and I think it's for buffing out foundation? I'm going to try it, but I love my Makeup Revolution Pro Precision Oval Face brush so much, I don't know if it has any chances of winning my heart.
# 109 Face Paint - very soft. The shape is a little weird, I've never had anything like this. Works nice for carving out my contour with some bake, but it's too dense for applying the contour itself. I made this mistake and had to spend the next 10 minutes trying to blend out a dark brown streek it created :D.
# 129 Fan - I've always wanted a brush like this, because my fan brush from ECOntour is huge and dense, but I was pretty disappointed, as it didn't pick up any of my Candlelight Glow highlighter by Too Faced. However, I will try it out with something more intense and let you know.
# 112 Face Curve - this one seems to be a traditional, flat foundation brush. Feels nice to the touch, I bet I'll find a way to use it.

And these are my nine eye brushes (also from left to right):

# 234 Luxe Smoky Shader - it's one of those that feel less good quality, but I enjoyed it while using it. I love these kind of brushes, very nice. I think I will use this a ton.
# 230 Luxe Pencil - luckily this one is very soft, so I won't scratch my bottom lid :D. Perfect size, I needed that.
# 228 Luxe Crease - not as soft, but works nice for the crease. It's soft enough, plus I think it will get softer with washes.
# 310 Spot Liner - I tried lining my eyes with this one, but I didn't like it at all (I usually use a nail art brush from Avon for my gel eyeliner and absolutely love it), so I will have to find another way to use it. I'm sure it will come in handy in any detail work I'd want to do, as it's so small, but probably not in everyday make up.
# 142 Concealer Buffer - it's technically a face brush, as it's made to be used for your concealer, but I only like blending concealer with my Beauty Blender, so for me it's an eyeshadow brush. And, by the way, it's great for blending your transition colour with. So soft.

# 322 Brow Line - I've never had anything like this and I wanted to, as I like carving out my brows with concealer every day. This however seems to be too wide, making it hard to control... Nonetheless, it's nice and soft and I'm sure I'll find a way to use it.
# 227 Luxe Soft Definer - this one is also not as soft as some other ones are, but I love the shape and enjoyed using it so far.
# 226 Smudger - I'm very happy to have this brush, as it's perfect for packing on cream products onto the lid. I also see it working beautifully for my L'oreal pressed pigments, but it even did a great job on the Half Baked shade from my Urban Decay Naked palette. Love it.
# 317 Wing Liner - I wouldn't use it for winged liner, as I don't like these angled brushes for that, but I love them for many other things and I'm sure I'll use it a lot. It's also very soft.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase so far. I have to admit it was a bit of a impulsive move and I did regret it a little before, but now that I've tried them, I'm glad I have them. For any of you interested, I bought it from HERE.

I really hope you like this blog post and maybe it was helpful in some way, even if it was just being an excuse for a break from your everyday struggles ;). Please leave me a comment if you enjoyed it or on what you think about Aliexpress, about these brushes or anything in general.

Have a great day!

November Favourites 2016

8:06:00 PM

Hi guys!

I can't believe November has already come to an end and we're getting closer and closer to the end of 2016! It's been quite a busy month for me (hence so little blog posts), but I can proudly say I did get some things done. Like, for example, my Christmas shopping is almost done (just one gift left to buy), Christmas tree is up, Christmas lights are up... I'm ready for Christmas and I can't wait, it's my favourite time of the year :).

Enough of the ramble, let's get into what I've been loving this past month!

Pantene Pro-V  Intense Regeneration leave-in conditioner. You might have seen this mentioned in my haircare post (HERE). I haven't been using many leave-in conditioners lately, and I remember liking some in the past, so when I saw this baby was on sale, I decided to pick it up. There's barely anything left in mine, so you can't really see it on the photo, but it separates into two layers and you have to shake it before spraying. It smells amazing, probably like all products from this line do (I had a conditioner and it smelled the same, not sure about anything else), and this already makes the experience worth the low price tag (especially as I bought it on sale). Apart from that, I noticed my hair being much softer after I started using it, it's also easier to detangle and generally feels healthier. I absolutely fell in love with it and will probably try other products from this line, and maybe other leave-in conditioners to see if they all are that great nowadays ;)

# Lorac Pro eyeshadow palette. I have bought this palette about three years ago and I don't regret it at all. It was in and out of my everyday make up shelf, but it was always getting quite a lot of love. This month it was absolutely in, I reached for it every single day that I wore make up.

My absolute favourite shades this month were Taupe, Sable and Gold, I used this combo pretty much every day. But even if I didn't, even if I used other palettes, I always reached for this one, as it has amazing mattes. It's a perfect everyday palette for a beginner in my opinion, it's incredibly easy to use and the quality of the shadows is stunning.

# Borjouis Radiance Reveal concealer in 02 Beige. I have finished my Fit Me concealer from Maybelline around the beginning of the month and I've been using this one ever since. I was really amazed by how nice to use it is (especially as I was afraid it might not be as good as the Fit Me). It's creamy, but not too thick, it covers nicely, but doesn't make my undereyes look cakey. It also smells amazing :).

# Too Faced Love Flush blushes in Justify My Love and Love Hangover. Around the beginning of the month I've bought two "Christmas gifts" for myself - two mini's sets from Too Faced (I've even posted an Instagram photo of it HERE). Out of all the products that came in these sets, I fell for the blushed the most.

When I first opened them I was afraid they's be too dark for me, as all of my blushes were much lighter in the pan. Indeed, these are very pigmented and if you use them wrong, you can totally end up looking like a clown. The trick is to use just a tiny bit - you can always add more if that's not enough. Because of that, even though these are so tiny, I feel like they are going to last me forever!

I also like the brush shown on the pictures above. I think it's a blush brush, but I wouldn't be able to use it with these blushes. Instead, I use it to apply bronzer into the hollows of my cheeks. It's so cute I always want to keep it on my everyday make up shelf!

# Too Faced Candlelight Glow in Rosy Glow. This is something I really wanted to have and ended up with mixed feelings. I have to say, I love how unique it it (at least for me). I've never seen a highlighter so subtle yet so beautiful. It literally looks like you're standing in candlelight and it's your natural glow. At first, I was a little disappointed with how subtle it is, but I've grown to appreciate it and now I think it's beautiful.

# Wibo Je T'Aime highlighter. Now something from an affordable end. This baby is a stunning, intense highlight. I absolutely love it. Despite being so affordable, it's very buttery and gives off a strong, champagne glow. Something for those who like to be seen from space!

If I had to choose between these two, I would probably go for the one from Wibo, as it's a fraction of the price and I actually like it more - as it's more intense.

I've been switching my lipstick up this month a lot, but these are the ones that I loved the most (even if I wore them just once).

# Maybelline Color Sensational Matte in 930 Nude Embrace. I still can't get over how amazing this lipstick is, it's probably one of, if not THE best lipstick I've ever tried. It's matte, but not drying, and so incredibly pigmented! And I love the shade (HERE).

# Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 13 Marvelous Mauve. Another one of my ultimate favourites. No wonder it's so popular! The color is amazing and the formula is very comfortable (despite being matte) and long wearing (HERE, HERE)

# Golden Rose Longstay Liquid Matte Lipstick in 03. This formula has quickly grown to be one of my favourites. It's incredibly pigmented in just one layer, long wearing, comfortable and smells gorgeous. I might even say the formula is better that the Sephora one, but nothing beats that 13 shade to me ;). I was a little afraid of this shade at first, but now I think it looks amazing and I love it on me (HERE, HERE).

# Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick in Legendary. I barely ever wear red, as I'm, for whatever reason, scared of it, but I wore this one one day and I absolutely loved it on me (HERE, HERE). I especially loved how comfortable the formula is (which goes to all of Be Legendary lipsticks I tried), how pigmented it was and how surprisingly long lasting it was on my lips. Obviously, not as long lasting as my matte lipsticks, but I could sip on my tea and my lips were still covered ;).

So these are all of my favourites of November. Have you tried any of the products I mentioned? If so, did you like them? Maybe you have any recommendations for me? Or suggestions? Write everything in the comment section below!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed it. Have a great weekend!
