MEXMO Cosmetics: Hot or not?

5:51:00 PM

Hello guys!

About 2 months ago Mexmo Cosmetics contacted me on Instagram and gave me a 40% off code to buy and try out some of their products. I was also lucky enough to win their contest and get some more of their stuff for free. This way I accumulated some products that they sell and was able to form an opinion, that I would like to share with you. Obviously, to each their own, so even if I don't like something, it doesn't mean that you won't. Also, I haven't tried everything, so I will just be talking about things I have!

Everything comes in beautiful, black bags with silver "Mexmo" writings on them. It also comes with little cards with product names in English and Polish and ingredients. The packaging of everything is plastic and very light, it doesn't feel too luxurious or sturdy, but nothing broke on me so far. On the other hand, I feel like it's very elegant - simple, sleek and black.

The first thing that I would like to talk about is what I like the least - Velvet Eye Concealer. It's supposed to be great for undereyes, moisturizing, soothing, calming, etc. I find that it doesn't even do the most important thing I need it for - it doesn't cover. It has a moussey consistency and is very drying. It dries so fast once I apply it, that I have no time to blend it. It also disturbs and takes away anything that I have underneath it AND looks very cakey. What is more, it's much too dark for me and oxidizes even darker. I absolutely did not like it. The only thing I could use it for is detail work on my eyes, as I didn't really care for blending then. (HERE) It costs 30 zł and I don't think it's worth it at all. There are too many better concealers at the drugstore!

34 & 41 eyeshadows, loose eyeshadow in 07, concealer
The next, and probably my most favourite thing I've tried is the loose eyeshadow. I have it in the shade 07, which is a darker champagne - as you can see on the photo above. It's very sparkly and beautiful and works great both as a topper and as a standalone lid colour. I also used it as an inner corner highlight and it worked great too, even though it's darker and more golden than what I'm used to. What is more, it works nice both wet and dry. If you could only buy one product from the line, I absolutely recommend checking out loose eyeshadows! The price is 17 zł.

I've also got an Eye Pencil in the shade 06. It costs 15 zł and I have to say, I have no special feelings towards it. Probably because of the colour - it's a silver. It's not too shiny, even though it is metallic. It also glides on nicely, you can see it in the waterline (which is where I use it) and it stays on for quite some time. It's a nice pencil, but nothing really special. Maybe I would be a bigger fan it they had a white or a nude shade, as these are the colors I tend to wear :).

lipstick, eye pencil and loose eyeshadow

The Lip Pencil is another favourite of mine. I have it in the shade 105 and it's 25 zł. The only thing I don't like about it is the fact that this is the lightest shade. As a nude lips fan, it's not nude enough for me :). It is great for everyday though, in my opinion. The color is very nice, it feels good on the lips and it stays for an incredibly long time - for a lipstick that is not matte. It is a little bit sticky, but this is probably why it's long lasting. It is a pencil that you have to sharpen, which could be a drawback for you, but I don't think it's that important, as long as the product is good.

As for the eyeshadows, I have mixed feelings. I have shades 10 (peachy one), 34 (red) and 41 (peachy pink) which are two mattes and one shimmer (41). I have to say, the colors are gorgeous, I absolutely love them and have nothing like this in my collection. They also have nice pigmentation. However, you have to build it. They look great on swatches, but they are so dry and chalky, that they dust away as soon as you try to blend them, which is why you have to apply several layers to get a decent pay off. That's especially a problem with the shimmery one, even when applied wet! I had to use so much of it to build pigmentation, that I have a huge dent in it already, and I only used it a few times. The mattes are much better, but still not great. I would say, go for mattes, if you see colors that you like, as they work much better on the eyes, and skip the shimmers. Go for loose eyeshadows to get a shimmery look! They are 17 zł each. Oh, and I found that the pinky shade works great as a blush ;)

34, 41, 10
All in all, I'm very happy that I got an opportunity to try out a new, Polish brand. There were some things that I didn't like, but I also found some hidden gems, that I love and even take with me when I'm traveling. I absolutely recommend checking out loose eyeshadows. I also love the lipstick. The eye pencil and matte eyeshadows are nice. I don't really like the shimmery shadow and I would avoid the concealer.

Some of the looks I've created using the products mentioned: 1  2  3  4  5 (silver in the waterline)

That is everything I have for today. Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed! Have you tried anything from the brand? Did you like it? Tell me everything in the comments!

Sending my love,
